Why These Yorkshire North FSCE 11 Plus Mock Exams Are Different
These mocks are designed specifically around the FSCE format used by Ermysted’s Grammar School and Skipton Girls’ High School, rather than being generic English and Maths papers with the Yorkshire North name added.
| Yorkshire North-specific feature | What this means for your child |
|---|---|
| Current FSCE research | The mocks are reviewed against current information about the entrance tests used by Ermysted’s Grammar School and Skipton Girls’ High School. |
| Two-paper structure | Children practise moving through two papers covering English and Maths. |
| Multiple-choice practice | Paper 1 gives children practice selecting and accurately recording answers on a separate answer sheet. |
| Short-response practice | Paper 2 requires children to produce their own short answers rather than relying on answer options. |
| English application | Children practise applying comprehension, vocabulary and wider English skills under timed conditions. |
| Maths application | Children practise applying mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills using both response formats. |
| Timed sections | Short timed sections help children become accustomed to working accurately against clearly defined time limits. |
| Parent invigilation guidance | Instructions explain how to administer the mock and when to call time. |
| Detailed review | Answers and explanations help identify weaknesses in knowledge, accuracy, written responses, timing and exam technique. |
